Local Parish
Stewardship Advisers

There are approximately eighty local Parish Stewardship Advisers on the Diocesan mailing list.  Each person on the mailing list receives a quarterly Christian Stewardship Newsletter offering thoughts and ideas about Christian Stewardship.  It is hoped that a ‘stewardship network’ will be set up to enable parishes to help and offer support to each other.

Back copies of the Christian Stewardship Newsletter can be downloaded from the Christian Stewardship Literature section.

Does your Parish have a Stewardship Adviser?  The responsibilities vary but may include:

  • informing and reminding the Church about it’s stewardship activities at its AGM;
  • facilitating Stewardship Programmes with the PCC and the help of the Parish Resources Adviser;
  • facilitating Stewardship Renewal Sunday’s with the Incumbent, PCC and the help of the Parish Resources Adviser;

If the Local Parish Stewardship Adviser is also Gift Aid Secretary, their responsibilities may also include;

  • encouraging those who attend the local Church to complete a Gift Aid declaration;
  • encouraging the use of standing orders or an envelope scheme by people who give regularly;
  • encouraging the use of special Gift Aid envelopes for visitors and occasional givers;
  • the administration of Gift Aid declarations, standing orders, envelopes;
  • reclaiming the tax from the Inland Revenue.

Stewardship evenings

John Truscott, who originally set up “Administry”, runs workshops for local Stewardship Advisers.  He has an excellent reputation for working with Churches and other Christian bodies around the country.  The evening lasts two and half-hours and helps us to understand our approach to others when discussing the subject of Stewardship at an individual level.  John also encourages participants to deepen their own personal journey of discipleship and reflect on exactly what Christian Stewardship represents for them.
